Recommend a Series! (perhaps your own!)

Posted by LewToons - June 23rd, 2011

Hai Gaiz

so as you know -or may not know... - i am BALLS DEEP into the prologue portion of my FIRST and only.. series!

And as ALL of you know, when you are animating a project, theres is that wall that hits where you lack the motivation to continue...now i havent hit that YET but i do love to be inspired as i work to help fuel my motivation

SO - - do you guys know of any series here on ngs that ARENT included in the "series" section

even if they arent AMAZING or if they only have a few episodes to them - i would love to check em out!

so link em on here if you got em!

thanks guys!

keep an eye out for my toon HOPEFULLY around sunday : )

**edit** one thing i forgot to mention is i am looking for ORIGINAL series with original characters!

Comments

ah thanks man - you reminded me of one thing i forgot to mention!

You know, I looked around a bit (entered "episode 1" in search bar) and all I found was series that never really went anywhere.

I think that every serie on NG has its own page in the Series section UNLESS there's only 1 or 2 episodes.

Leo & Satan is a highly respected series but it doesn't have its own page in the Series section. Why is that?
I'm speculating here, but maybe it is because there's only 4 episodes? It needs to grow more? I don't know I'm just rambling.

So all I can provide you with, is series that only have 1 or 2 episodes:

"Freak" by Evil-Dog
Ep1: <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/119403">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /119403</a>
Ep2: <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/213917">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /213917</a>

"EFN" series by Zeurel

Ep1: <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/479949">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /479949</a>
Ep2: <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/487821">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /487821</a>
Ep3: <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/494363">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /494363</a>

One episode of "Transitions" by Brand-new-hero
<a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/256919">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /256919</a>

And one episode of "Alex Seryoua" by the good old Danomano65
<a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/428884">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /428884</a>

I hope this helps!

brb, watching EFN series....

yes EFN series was quite promising...not much story line (even if you read the comix) i hope to keep the story line very clear with my series - - thanks for the links!

*comments while watching EFN*

I think the problem in this show lies in how it just slabs a shitload of anime concepts into one story.
Causing a very confusing and incoherent plot.

But then again I'm not a writer.

Although the animations do drag on a bit too long >_>

Pretty sweet art though D:

Oh and I forgot to thank you for looking up some animations.

I spend way too much time on the forums and less time looking up good animations.

So thanks for that!

MOAR COMMENTS FOR YOU

You've probably seen it and everything, but Halomen isn't in the series section, although it's a rehash and uses already existing characters... it's still a pretty goddamn good series.

Man I need some sleep

These are some of my faves that I feel like didn't get the love they deserved:

S.I.N. by Xero-Shift <a href="http://xero-shift.newgrounds.com/flash/">http://xero-shift.newgrounds.com/flas h/</a>
GUN by ZeroNuclear <a href="http://zeronuclear.newgrounds.com/flash/">http://zeronuclear.newgrounds.com/fla sh/</a>
Apocalypse Please by Five-Iron <a href="http://five-iron.newgrounds.com/flash/">http://five-iron.newgrounds.com/flash /</a>

Epic epiphany I had before dropping my first series: Make sure every episode is satisfying enough to where it wouldn't need the rest of the series. If every episode is entertaining enough and understandable enough to be a one-shot with no sequels or prequels, it's done right. Alot of series on here drop because the artist got bored with the story as it was and didn't want to have to use old ideas and address plot holes/foreshadowing from old episodes. Think little, do big, because people cannot read your mind :3

half of that is great brand new insight that i definitely will use! each episode should stand on its own!

the other half i totally agree with / have thought the same thing - - i just watched the series "Vice faction" and you hit it right on the head - - that series, among others, go along EXPECTING viewers to read their minds as far as plot goes...its a serious bummer..

but thanks for the links! im gonna check em all out now!
